- Dress Code
Throughout the school year, both the Classic Dress Code and Spirit Dress Code will be valid.
The philosophy behind the SCCHS Dress Code is that if students and faculty dress for success, then there is a higher probability that both will achieve success. The seriousness with which our students address the way they present themselves (including the way they dress) results in a first impression that will carry them far in their lives.
Student compliance with the Dress Code is an important issue in our daily lives at SCCHS. Being out of Dress Code represents a violation of school rules and will be handled in the same way as any other disciplinary violation.
CLASSIC DRESS CODE
For LADIES: Young Women MUST Wear:
- A dress blouse. A dress blouse is defined as having sleeves and a collar (no scoop or low-cut neckline). The blouse must be buttoned so that no other shirt, top or blouse may be seen above the buttons of the outer blouse. Also, the blouse must be long enough to stay buttoned and fully tucked in even when sitting. If the blouse is too short to stay tucked in, then it is not in Dress Code. No tank tops or other undershirts may show above the buttons of the blouse. Rugby, flannel, jersey, sweatshirt material, knit, Hawaiian print or T-shirt tops are NOT considered dress blouses.
- A dress skirt (length to middle or below the knee) or dress slacks (full length and Docker-style) must be worn. The skirt may not have slits above the acceptable length. Skorts are not allowed. The following are NOT acceptable for dress skirts or pants: spandex, lycra, knits or jersey material; external pockets, rivets, jean-style. Tight pants are NOT in Dress Code. A belt must be worn if there are belt loops on the skirt or slacks.
- A dress blazer, sweater or vest may be worn at any time of the year. Zip-up sweaters must be worn over a blouse. Summer tank tops and spaghetti strap tops worn over blouses are NOT in Dress Code.
- Dress shoes with socks or stockings must be worn. Dress shoes are suede/leather, dress pumps, dock-siders or loafers. Dress shoes are never above the ankle. Excessively high heels, canvas shoes, open-toed shoes, sandals, sneakers, slides, flip-flops and athletic look-alike shoes are NOT permitted. Dress boots (properly tied and fitted) and dress clogs (with socks) are permitted.
For GENTLEMEN - Young Men MUST Wear:
- A dress shirt and tie. A dress shirt is defined as having sleeves, a collar, and buttoning completely down the front. Rugby, flannel, jersey, sweat-shirt material, Hawaiian print, knit or T-shirt type tops are NOT considered dress shirts. Shirts must be worn fully tucked in.
- Dress slacks are to be worn. Dress slacks are NOT cargo or jean-style pants; they do NOT have external pockets or rivets. Slacks must be worn at the waist. A belt must be worn if the slacks have belt loops.
- A dress blazer, sweater or vest may be worn at any time of the year. A sweater or vest may be worn over a shirt and tie. Zip-up sweaters must be worn over a shirt and tie, never alone.
- Dress shoes and socks must be worn. Dress shoes are suede/leather, dress oxfords, dock-siders or loafers. Dress shoes are never above the ankle. Canvas shoes, sandals, flip-flops, sneakers and athletic look-alike shoes are never permitted. Dress boots (properly tied and fitted) and dress clogs (with socks) are permitted.
