Capable of 'lending' ebooks, can read .pdf (but not .doc files) as well as standard epub formats. Easy access to books via Barnes & Noble's online store.

E-Ink device which can play a variety of formats including Secure (DRM) mobipocket, but not Secure .pdf, lit, or epub.
- iRex and iLiad
iRex offers eInk ebook readers with both wireless capability and the ability to upload and download to a PC.
- Sony Reader
Sony offers ebook readers which support a variety of formats, including .pdf, and allow wireless downloading of content.
- Adobe Reader for mobile devices
Software to translate Adobe (.pdf) files into formats readable on mobile devices such as Pocket PC and Palm OS, and the software to install on those devices to read with.

- FBReader
Open-source reader for Windows and Linux; it can read ePub, plucker, and non-DRM'd Mobipocket formats, among others.
- iSilo
Popular software for Palm, Pocket PC, Windows CE handhelds, and Windows. The separate iSiloX componant enables the creation of iSilo documents from HTML pages.
- Microsoft Reader
"A free, downloadable software application that allows you to read eBooks on Windows-based devices." Includes both desktop and PDA versions.
- Mobipocket
Reader for desktop, PDA, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and some dedicated ebook readers.
