Throughout the 2006-2007 school year, both the Classic Dress Code and Spirit Dress Code will be valid.
CLASSIC DRESS CODE
For LADIES:
- A dress blouse. A dress blouse is defined as having sleeves and collar (no scoop or low-cut neckline). The blouse must be long enough to stay buttoned and tucked in even when sitting. Blouses must be fully tucked in. If it is too short to stay tucked in, then it is NOT in Dress Code. No tank tops or other undershirts may show above the buttons of the blouse. Rugby, flannel, jersey, sweatshirt material, knit, Hawaiian print or T-shirt tops are NOT considered dress blouses.
- A dress skirt (length to middle or below the knee) or dress slacks (full length and Docker-style) must be worn. The skirt may not have slits above the acceptable length. Skorts are not allowed. The following are NOT acceptable for dress skirts or pants: spandex, lycra, knits or jersey material; external pockets, rivets, jean-style. Tight pants are NOT in Dress Code. A belt must be worn if there are belt loops on the skirt or slacks.
- A dress blazer, sweater or vest may be worn at any time of the year. Zip-up sweaters must be worn over a blouse. Summer tank tops and spaghetti strap tops worn over blouses are NOT in Dress Code.
- Dress shoes with socks or stockings must be worn. Dress shoes are suede/leather, dress pumps, Dock-siders or loafers. Dress shoes are never above the ankle. Excessively high heels, canvas shoes, open-toed shoes, sandals, sneakers, slides, flip-flops and athletic look-alike shoes are NOT permitted. Dress boots (properly tied and fitted) and dress clogs (with socks) are permitted.
For GENTLEMEN:
- A dress shirt and tie. A dress shirt is defined as having sleeves, a collar, and buttoning completely down the front. Rugby, flannel, jersey, sweat-shirt material, Hawaiian print, knit or T-shirt type tops are NOT considered dress shirts. Shirts must be worn fully tucked in.
- Dress slacks slacks are to be worn. Dress slacks are NOT cargo or jean-style pants; they do NOT have external pockets or rivets. Slacks must be worn at the waist. A belt must be worn if the slacks have belt loops.
- A dress blazer, sweater or vest may be worn at any time of the year. A sweater or vest may be worn over a shirt and tie. Zip-up sweaters must be worn over a shirt and tie, never alone.
- Dress shoes and socks must be worn. Dress shoes are suede/leather, dress oxfords, Dock-siders or loafers. Dress shoes are never above the ankle. Canvas shoes, sandals, flip-flops, sneakers and athletic look-alike shoes are never permitted. Dress boots (properly tied and fitted) and dress clogs (with socks) are permitted.
SPIRIT DRESS CODE
For LADIES and GENTLEMEN:
- Shirts:Students (both male and female) must purchase the official Saints polo shirts (with the SCC Logo) in the SCC Bookstore. No other polo shirts are acceptable. The shirt must be worn fully tucked into dress khaki slacks.
- Slacks: Dress khaki slacks (The khaki color may range from dark to light, but no other color is acceptable.) A belt must be worn if the slacks have belt loops. Refer to Classic Dress Code for further description of acceptable slacks.
- Shoes: Dress shoes with socks or stockings must be worn. Refer to Classic Dress Code for further description of dress shoes.
In Addition:
Dress Down Days: On Dress Down Days, students may wear jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts and athletic footwear. All clothing should be modest and in good taste. Caps, hats, shorts, capris and short skirts are never acceptable. The final decision of acceptability on dress and personal appearance is reserved by the Administration.
Body Piercing: Any visible body piercing (including tongues) is not allowed. The only exception is pierced ears.
Hair Color/Styles: No unusual hair colors or fad styles are permitted.
Medical excuses to wear athletic shoes will not be accepted unless signed by a physician. No outdoor-type jackets may be worn during the school day. Fad fashions may not be worn. Students will observe the dress code at all times during the school hours, including lunch time.
THE SCCHS ADMINISTRATION HAS FINAL APPROVAL OF ACCEPTABLE DRESS.
