The Music Department at SCCHS gives the student an opportunity to deepen his/her understanding of music and to develop personal skills for music performance.
The makeup work must be submitted by the end of the marking period during which the concert is missed.

The chorus is a performing group which sings in parts. Members must perform in one concert per semester.

This course is for serious vocal/choral students. It requires students to travel to competitions in major cities in the United States and Canada once a year.

This course is a small ensemble group formed to explore types of music requiring more serious study. This course for the intermediate or advanced student will concentrate on the classics.

Music Theory is the beginning stage in learning to read and write music. It includes the study of basic musical signs and how they are interpreted at a keyboard instrument. The course is intended for the student who does not read music or who reads it at an elementary level.

This course is a "hands-on" course that enables the student to learn the skills an actor needs to have on stage. The student will learn the arts of juggling, sword fighting, hand-to-hand combat, tap dance, beginning gymnastics, and circus techniques. This course is very athletically oriented.

This course is a band class for beginner students, designed to increase music skills. There is also a study of various types of music and historical materials for many types of band music. An instrument is required in most cases. This course is recommended for ninth graders.

This course is a large ensemble exploring music of "Big Band", Modern Jazz, Pop, and Jazz-Rock. An instrument is required in most cases. Performance is required.

This course covers all types of guitar styles and techniques, music reading, transposing, improvising, and many other topics. An instrument is required in most cases.

This is a small group which will enable the advanced musician to study more in-depth music such as modern jazz, semi-classical and popular music, the study of improvising, and sight-reading. Performance is required.

This is a course for more in-depth study of individual sections of band material. It is scheduled twice per cycle and each band member must enroll for one session per cycle, according to schedule. Stage Band and Band members must enroll in one of these sessions.
